"Science for Everyone" and "Science Everywhere" Seminars Organized by Our University
In collaboration with our university’s Science Communication Office and the Directorate of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center, seminars titled “Science for Everyone” and “Science Everywhere,” as well as “Science Communication Training,” were organized for students attending schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
Dr. Hazal Yüksekkaya, Coordinator of our University’s Science Communication Office, delivered presentations titled “Science for Everyone” at Hakkâri Martyr Education Inspector Selahattin Şimşek Secondary School, “Science Everywhere” at Siirt 80th Year Secondary School, and “Science Communication Seminar: The Place of Mathematics in Science” at Hakkâri Atatürk Anatolian High School. These seminars emphasized the purpose and importance of science communication, highlighting the need for science to be accessible to everyone and available everywhere. Additionally, the role of mathematics in scientific processes was discussed.
A seminar titled “The Importance of Women in Science” was held at Hakkâri Martyr Selahattin Imam Hatip Secondary School. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among participants by focusing on the role and contributions of women in the scientific world. At the conclusion of the events, mathematics-related educational materials prepared by university students were donated to the school libraries.
Separately, within the scope of the “Women’s Touch in Agriculture Project”—conducted by the TOBB Hakkâri Women Entrepreneurs Board under the coordination of the Hakkâri Chamber of Commerce and Industry—a “Science Communication Training” session for women entrepreneurs was held in the Çukurca district on May 20, 2025, in collaboration with the Çukurca Municipality and the District Directorate of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. The training emphasized that science should be accessible to all and provided information on the purpose and significance of science communication. As part of the same project, another training session titled “Strengthening Women’s Place in Society” was conducted, addressing the role of access to scientific knowledge in the social empowerment of women.
